Cookbooks!

I have an unnatural obsession with cookbooks. I continue to collect them even though I still have a few that I haven't even tried once! I've used them to read through or learn cooking techniques from. I have also used them to learn about new foods or special ingredients. I dream of turning this blog into a 101 Cookbooks where I can try out various recipes and show you my creations. One day it will happen!

Here is a list of my collection. Let me know if there are others I should check out! I've been thinking I need a Mexican and an Italian cookbook, as well as maybe another baking cookbook in there somewhere but for right now I am on a cookbook buying ban until I work my way through some of these. The two exceptions to the ban this year are Terry Hope Romero's Viva Vegan! when it comes out in late April and Colleen Patrick Goudreau's Color Me Vegan when it hits shelves in late 2010. But that's it. I swear.

I heart cookbooks also. Yet I only ever cook from one or two of them.

Do you read EatLiveRun.com? I think you'd like it. She's a cookbook/food obsessive and posts her creations.

She also has a book deal to write a cookbook (and she's only 24) - *boggles*

I *do* read Eat, Live, Run! I love it! I was wondering what she was working on since she always talks about having to get some writing done! That's crazy--I want a cookbook!

Awesome list. You own a ton of my favorites, and several I have been eyeing too :)

I too have an obsession with cookbooks.

For basic Italian, I love Jamie Oliver's and Giada's books, but they are fairly meat/dairy heavy - I own the Jamie book, and adapt accordingly, especially with dairy, but decided against getting Giada's books because of her heavy emphasis on dairy.

For Mexican, my husband owned Cocina de la Familia for years before we got married - I reviewed it here - http://www.cgldaily.com/2009/04/salsa-verde.html - it's a serious Mexican cookbook, and some recipes are complicated, but it is a great reference.

WOWZA!!! YOu have an insane collection! I've been reading about Veganomicon, and I think I need it! I have several cookbooks, but unfortunately, they contain very little vegetarian options (and like NO vegan ones).

Veganomicon is like the Betty Crocker basic cookbook for veganism! It has a great array of recipes (plus helpful information on ingredients and cookware). I highly recommend it!

My nominees for a Mexican Cookbook, though not a bit vegan is Rick Bayless' Authentic Mexican: it was his first book, researched thoroughly, very deliberate, and great flavors: I learned a lot from it, and from working at Topolobampo x4 years.

n.b. Thanks for including my ChefMD Culinary Medicine book...some of the recipes are now free on YouTube (channel drlapuma) and chefmd.com

That is an insane amount of cookbooks, but I get it! I only have a fraction of those cookbooks, but I am addicted to books in general.

Have a lovely day!
