I've also had a mild headache for a day or two. A friend says that some people have withdrawal symptoms when they go vegan, both due to the addictive properties of dairy and because your body is detoxing. I totally believe that. I have them every year during Passover when I stop eating carbs for a week. I know this feeling will pass (and exercise has helped) but still...it's icky.
After lunch we had a cake for my co-worker's birthday. It was a mango mousse over lady fingers with fruit on top. Not only could I not have the cake due to the dairy in it, it also had fresh fruit on top covered in gelatin to keep it from oxidizing. Sad. Today was the first day where I felt like my diet was restricting me from participating in something (even though I know that's stupid--I was still there to celebrate with her!). On the plus side, I have turned down sweets a lot this week for not being vegan, which is leading to me eating a lot healthier.
Tonight I am sipping on a green smoothie. I am going to listen to some of Colleen's podcasts. This is the first day where I felt a little bit discouraged so I could use the extra support. I am looking forward to yoga tomorrow. I need to nurture myself a little bit right now.
Have a great weekend!

Eating out can be so hard when eating mindfully, whether it is vegan or a restricted diet or near-vegan. I turn down desserts a lot and i find it upsets people, but you have to do what is right for you :)
I had headaches on and off when I cut out wheat and dairy and eggs last spring - and when I added dairy and eggs back in for allergy testing, I had some headaches when I took them back out. I think you are totally right that it is part of getting used to it.
Enjoy your green smoothie :)
Omg hon I'm right there with you!!! Augh today was INSANELY difficult. All I wanted today was baked goods, ice cream, and all kinds of cheesy goodness. I resisted, but oh man, it was hard. I totally lost sight of why I'm doing this and kept asking myself, "Is dairy really that bad??" I need to read Eating Animals and listen to Colleen's podcasts to remember. It's so easy to forget.
I've had mild headaches, too! Good to know it's not just me.
